ACTORS · STATE · DATA FLOW
Authorized purpose and controlled comparison
This assessment concerns the contract of an owned public-title fixture: tea should display the title Tea note and the optional vendor plan should remain disabled. The scope manifest states which fixed inputs, purposes and local operations are authorized. It does not authorize discovering another application’s endpoints, collecting real user records or sending requests to new targets. Application mapping connects known data and decision owners: the HTML serializer, title consumer, fixture source and evidence reviewer. The URL-to-pixels lesson chain explains observation points without claiming they have all been measured.
The hypothesis is narrow and falsifiable: if the selected serializer emits current Tea note instead of old Local draft, the same parser check changes from fail to pass. Expected title, seed and parser remain fixed; only the candidate artifact changes. Before contains Local draft, after Tea note and the regression again Local draft. Record a byte hash for every candidate so one filename cannot conceal changed content. This finite comparison is different from reading source-like text: the parser actually runs on each candidate. It still does not measure DOM mutation, paint or database revision. The serializer cause and correction are supplied teaching explanations here. The native check parses three pre-authored HTML candidates; it does not execute their producer or diagnose a serializer root cause.
Tool vantage points and outcome language
DevTools can observe requests, initiators and the live DOM in one browser context. An HTTP client observes response status/body without automatically executing the browser DOM or its cookie/policy behavior. An intercepting proxy can observe one position in an authorized connection; that position is not the authority for a server business commit and its configuration may affect observations. None of these tools is run in this fixture. A source line can describe intent, a runtime observation a selected execution result, and resource-owner evidence a persistence or policy decision. These evidence types cannot be substituted for one another.
The four-row matrix gives publicTitle and optionalVendorPlan pass/fail from local observations; persistentRevision and pixelsTitle remain unknown because they lack observations. Unknown is neither a negative result nor a green success. If expected title or seed changes, the changed-context branch cannot use the old baseline as the same controlled comparison and is incomparable. A supplied teaching explanation attributes the cause to old-title selection and the correction to current-title selection; native evidence only establishes whether each candidate heading meets the contract. Producer diagnosis is unmeasured. This establishes no new security vulnerability or whole-application assurance. A versioned standard such as ASVS can organize scope, but a finite title check cannot establish compliance with the entire standard.

Expectation drift
- Authorized comparison
The manifest bounds review to public-title serialization and local parse/serialize/compare for tea and a fixed seed, expecting Tea note without external targets.

- Before-failure result
The before candidate reads Local draft and fails publicTitle. Changing the expectation to Local draft does not fix behavior; controlled comparison requires retaining the contract.

- Owned fixed seed / title contract only
- Comparison and scope gate
- Observed Local draft ≠ expected Tea note
- Assessment outcome

- Scope of the after pass
The after candidate reads Tea note and passes the title check. This selected heading result does not complete database revision, authz or whole-product assurance.
- Candidate/manifest ledger
- Owned fixed seed / title contract only
- Comparison and scope gate
- Observed Local draft ≠ expected Tea note
- Assessment outcome
- Title pass / other layers unmeasured
- Regression fails again
Regression returns to Local draft and fails the same expectation. Earlier failing bytes are retained; a final green result alone cannot establish no regression.

ASSUMPTION · BOUNDARY · CONTROL
A test boundary expanding silently
Normal review compares candidate behavior against an authorized contract. Its trust assumption is that scope and measurements describe the same work. Expanding one public-title observation into all authorization, tenant isolation or persistence behavior creates assurance unsupported by evidence. Record the observation point and unknown fields on every matrix row. If pixels are expected but only HTML source is checked, the test can read the selected heading while leaving the actual appearance unknown. Increasing the passing-test count cannot fill that evidence gap.
Using another note or changed expected title instead of the fixed seed mixes candidate changes with context changes. Before and after no longer test the hypothesis under the same conditions. Defaulting missing observations to false or changing the expected title to Local draft likewise hides rather than resolves the error. Here the reviewer retains Tea note as the expectation; a regression emitting the old title fails explicitly. Changed data can receive a newly controlled baseline, but that new comparison cannot be presented as the old test passing.
Evidence files and their meaning
A HAR, log export or response capture can help a review, but its potential secrets and personal data require a separate decision. This lesson has no real captures: it uses ordinary public HTML and booleans. The scope manifest defines necessary fields, review purpose and retention bounds. A report can relate a test result to a source snippet without abandoning evidence minimization. A hash checks candidate-content identity; it is not a credential establishing a trusted vendor, authorized user or correct business state.
Root-cause and impact language must stay within evidence. Reading Local draft establishes an incorrect selected output; it does not establish that all users saw it, a database update was lost or a malicious action occurred. A post-fix pass supports only the selected title path. The durable control preserves both the serializer contract and a regression case with the same expectation. Further review needed for related unmeasured layers is recorded separately; the fixture does not expand targets automatically or create an offensive discovery list.

IMPLEMENTATION · SECURITY CONTROL · VERIFICATION
A reproducible review package
The package includes the manifest, fixture bytes, selected contract, runtime version, observation list and candidate hashes. It records the heading actually read by the parser, not just pass. The finite comparator returns unknown for observed=None, pass for an observed expected value, and fail for another measured value. The title fails before, passes after and fails again when the old heading regresses. The optional vendor plan is observed false in all three candidates. Database revision and pixels have no observations, so passing totals do not absorb those unknown rows.
The artifact XPath selects result=fail within one XML document: the after fixture yields zero and the regression positive fixture one. A missing document yields zero, interpreted as absent evidence. Its schema consists of review/result fields; there is no SIEM ingest, Browser API or live HTTP capture. A supplied source explanation describes possible title-selection intent; actual parsing observes candidate headings without independently validating that explanation as a producer diagnosis. Expectation and observation remain distinct evidence fields, and the test does not copy its outcome from lesson JSON.
Retest, regression and closure decisions
A retest returns to the same defect with the same seed and contract. Regression review also checks the optional dependency behavior and a branch reverting to the old title. Behavior outside these finite rows remains outside coverage. If context changes, record comparable=false instead of success. A failing check records candidate bytes, expected/observed values and the relevant owner. A successful fix retains the earlier failing artifact’s identity; a final green screenshot or test count alone cannot explain the defect or the change.
The closure note is small and precise: the selected after candidate’s title meets the contract, the same parser read Tea note, the optional vendor plan remained disabled, and persistence and pixels were unmeasured. Evidence-led review connects source, execution and outcome while retaining these boundaries. A new requirement for actual rendering or database state needs an appropriate separately authorized observation. Durable controls retain tests without weakening the expected contract, review fixture compatibility on version changes and let the reviewer distinguish measured, unknown and incomparable outcomes.
NOW APPLY IT TO THE CASE
Does a parser pass prove pixels or producer root cause?
Three authored HTML candidates carry Local draft, Tea note and Local draft against one Tea note expectation. The matrix gives fail/pass/fail while persistent revision and pixels remain unmeasured. Old-title producer selection is a teaching explanation, not an executed producer diagnosis.
Separate decisions for verified actor, tenant relation and requested action in the case. Do not substitute authentication or proof success for object permission.

Fixed owned public HTML and finite comparator. No browser, proxy, HTTP client, database or other application assessment is executed; title serialization is not whole-product security assurance. The producer serializer is not executed; root cause/fix are supplied explanations and native evidence is candidate-heading comparison.
Two reality checks
One passing post-fix test establishes whole-application security.
A pass supports only the measured contract and scope; unmeasured fields such as pixels/persistence remain unknown.
A regression can be passed by changing its expectation.
A retest preserves the intended contract; changed context defines another comparison and does not erase the earlier failure.

Before → after → regression gives fail/pass/fail with one expectedTitle. Why does changing the seed make comparison incomparable, and how would you report this bounded review?
Read the explained answer
The same seed and assertion permit a meaningful candidate comparison. With contextChanged.sameSeed=false, one unchanged expectation is insufficient and the result is incomparable. The bounded conclusion is that the owned public-heading serialization contract passes for the after candidate and fails again for regression. Pixels, persistent revision and other objects remain unknown, with no claim of a real vulnerability or broad system safety.
□ I marked changed seed/context as incomparable.
□ I bounded the finding to the observed heading contract.
